Patient with fractured intestinal obstruction treated successfully in Alchemist Hospital



Panchkula: 70 Years old woman with intestinal obstruction caused by fractured stent has been successfully operated by Dr. Harsh Garg, General Surgeon Alchemist Hospital Panchkula.

Dr. Harsh said that the patient was admitted to Alchemist Hospital with the history of pain abdomen, vomiting and was not passing stool. She was previously treated for esophageal rupture with a stent  in 1997. But patient had not got that stent removed.  That stent had got misplaced into stomach and got fractured. Patient was suffering from severe pain in abdomen and other complications.

Dr Harsh further added that, the stent had fractured and gone in to the small intestine causing intestinal obstruction. She was initially managed conservatively but as she did not improve she was taken up for surgery.

The Stent was removed and intestine closed. She recovered from surgery and currently she is doing well. 

Dr Harsh said that Fracture stent causing intestinal obstruction is not so common phenomena.
