Boy treated successfully for scalp avulsion injury at Alchemist Hospital


Panchkula: In a significant development, a teenager boy who got life threatening scalp avulsion injury, treated successfully at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula recently. The boy has now recovered well without any hair loss or scars on the scalp.
Sidhant Tiwari (13) was playing on the swings at his school when he got a fatal head injury. He got a very deep cut on his head and his head was bleeding profusely. The school authorities rushed him to a hospital from where, after an initial treatment, Sidhant’s father decided to shift him to Alchemist Hospital.
The scalp repositioning with local advancement flap cover with trichophytic closure of wound was done by Dr Himanshu Paul, Consultant Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon.
Sidhant was operated immediately for scalp avulsion and scalp laceration (multiple) at Alchemist.
Dr Himanshu informed that scalp avulsion is a threatening blood loss injury. Rapid cessation of bleeding, wound compression and aggressive fluid resuscitation are important in this injury.
