150 Kg Obese Woman operated for cancer in Alchemist


An obese patient with 150 KG weight having carcinoma endometrium (cancer of uterus) with complete heart block operated successfully in Alchemist Hospital.
A 67-year-old woman Brij Bala Sharma resident of Yamunanagar has been admitted to Alchemist Hospital with cancer of uterus also suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) and complete heart block.  The patient was bedridden due to obesity. She had been refused treatment at multiple hospitals due to morbid obesity.
The patient was referred to Dr. Kanwarneet Singh, Consultant, Surgical Oncology. During the evaluation for surgery, the patient was diagnosed with a complete heart block.
Alchemist team managed surgery by first inserting temporary pacemakers, inserted by Dr. Rohit Parti Sr. Consultant, Interventional cardiology, before surgery. Then Radical hysterectomy (Wertheims hysterectomy), (removing of the whole uterus, tissue on the sides of the uterus, the cervix, and the top part of the vagina), was done by surgical oncology team. Postoperatively patient managed in the cardiac unit. The permanent pacemaker has been inserted.
The patient has been discharged without any complications.
